Behind the Standard: our contribution to China's refractory industry

We are proud to share that Mr. Fan Shengliang, founder of Shengao Refractory, was one of the principal drafters of GB/T 2997-2015 — “Test Method for Bulk Density, Apparent Porosity and True Porosity of Dense Shaped Refractory Products”, China's national standard for characterising dense shaped refractory products.

According to China's official National Standards information platform, Mr. Fan Shengliang is listed among the principal drafters of this national standard. Zhejiang Ruitai Refractory Materials Technology Co., Ltd., our subsidiary, is also listed among the principal drafting organizations.

The standard was published on December 10, 2015, came into effect on January 1, 2017, and remains a current standard. It revises and replaces GB/T 2997-2000 and adopts ISO 5017:2013 with modifications.

For us, this is more than a line on a company profile. It represents decades of involvement in refractory technology, material testing and industrial kiln applications — and it continues to influence how we approach material selection, quality control and refractory engineering today.

Bulk density and porosity determine how a refractory withstands slag attack, thermal shock and abrasion. Because our founder helped define how these properties are measured at national level, every product we ship is tested and specified against methods we helped to write.
